Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. When she moved to Oxfordshire in the age group of five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma aged six at the time she decided to be an actor. The actress trained for several years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a Part-time theatre school located in Oxford where she was taught acting and singing. By the age of ten she had appeared and played as the main character in several Stagecoach performances and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) was the movie version to J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel was cast for the first time in 1999. Emma was noticed by casting directors through Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after auditioning for eight times. They were chosen to play the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's debut film appearance came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was also the most successful film in 2001. Its opening days and weekends of the sales were unbeatable. Film critics praised the film as well as the acting performances of the three acclaimed young actors. The popular British daily The Daily Telegraph called her performance "awesome. Emma took home the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in a Feature Film. Later, she was awarded five times for her performance in the film.
